What’s a zine? [pronounced: zeen]
So you’re checking out this zineblog and you probably like the images, quotes etcetera that I’ve posted. You take a look at the layout, read the description in the sidebar and you’re thinking: ‘Well, this is quite a cute blog. But what the hell is a zine really?’
You’re about to find out.
“Zines are cheaply made printed forms of expression on any subject.”¹ Mostly zines are made in the form of a booklet or flyer and contain doodles, quotes, funny stories, personal collections and anything else. A zine could be really artistic, colourful and precisely made OR black and white, without text and sloppy. Anything in between would do well for a zine too, as long as it’s creative. Zines could be the size of your thumb or as big as an atlas, size doesn’t matter much in this case.
As I mentioned in the sidebar, nearly everything on this blog ends up in one of my zines.
So now you know what I’m talking about. You know the purpose of this blog and perhaps you’re interested in making zines of your own!
